Papa's Freezeria is a time management-based cooking simulation game and the sequel to Papa's Taco Mia!. You play as a Sundae mixer on a tropical island, with plenty of ingredients and toppings to boot!
Story[]
The player is reading the training manual for their new job at Papa's Freezeria, Papa Louie's new restaurant on Calypso Island. The manual indicates "Stress-Free Work", and workers can decorate the store as they wishes (provided that they pay for it themselves in fine print). Now wearing the official uniform, Papa Louie gives them a tour of his new restaurant. Papa then leaves them for his next adventure, immediately after which the player notices what appears to be a ship in the distance. Upon taking a closer look, they sees that the cruise ship S.S. Louie is heading towards the dock. Upon arrival, all of Papa Louie's customers exit the ship, and head over to the Freezeria, much to their dismay.
Gameplay[]
The workers you can play as are Alberto or Penny, after being pressed into the services of Papa Louie, they will be running a sundae store.
The game requires multi-tasking, going through 4 stations (Order, Build, Mix, and Top stations). You are rated by each customer and at the end of work day depending on your accuracy and speed in delivery. You can use your tip from your customers to buy upgrades (which will make things easier for you when preparing food) and lobby items (that can improve on waiting score). Unlike the previous two games, there are a lot more lobby items available to purchase, alongside wallpaper and flooring, and you can now customize your own lobby to your personal preference.
There are new (normal) customers and some ingredients that can only be unlocked once you reach a certain rank. Every time you do a good or a great job on a customer's order, that customer gets an extra star on their Star Meter. If you do an awful job, this meter will drop down to zero. Filling this meter will earn you a Star Customer award and a bonus tip. When a customer has earned an award (bronze, silver or gold), they'll tip more from now on and order faster.
From the second day onwards, there is a closer customer who appears near the end of the day who are extra picky when you're making their order. Each closer only comes once every seven days and on every seventh day, the food critic Jojo appears with a randomised order. If he likes your sundae, you will get a blue ribbon which will increase the tip you earn for the next three days.
Order Station[]
You start by taking your customer's order here and copy it on an order ticket. They tell you what cup size they prefer, and their choice of mixables and syrup. Once their order is taken, the customers will wait in the "Pick up" line in the back. You organize the multiple tickets on an order line, each with its number indicating time of order. The number of customers raises as you get further into the game. You can also customize the interior of the order station with lobby items to improve on your waiting score.
Build Station[]
Now here comes the foundation. You can drag order tickets to the side hook to read them easier. You choose the cup size for the sundae (from rank 4 onwards) and the preferred mixables and syrup.
Mix Station[]
Here, players blend the combined base, mixable, and syrup ordered by the customer to the specific blend (smooth, regular, or chunky) they chose when placing the order. There are four blenders in the game, and players can buy boosters for this station to speed up the blenders. There are meters for each blender that comes with the boosters. Pressing down on the booster (with the mouse) will cause the blender to "overheat." Once a blender overheats, it becomes inoperable (until the meter returns to normal), and the sundae may have to be moved to another blender.
Top Station[]
In this station, the player adds whipped creams, toppings, and syrups to customers' sundaes.
Rating[]
Here, your customer rates your sundae according to how well you perform on the four stations. Icons will appear showing how well you did in each area. If a customer waits too long before you take the order, you lose points and if you take a long time preparing customer's order, you lose points as well. Items in your lobby will make the customers more patient and won't mind waiting for the order and hence you will get a better score. At the end of the work day, you'll see a tally of your customer points and tips earned. As you earn more points, you'll be awarded new rank and titles.
