Robot Dinosaurs That Shoot Beams When They Roar is a game about robot dinosaurs shooting laser beams you'll play in a long time. It is a short side-scrolling shooter set in space.
Gameplay[]
Robot Dinosaurs That Shoot Beams When They Roar is a side-scrolling shooter game, with music by midimachine and Nemesis Theory. It is character-driven and let's you choose which of the two character you wish to control. Whether you choose Tyrannosaurus X or Dinomite has little impact on gameplay. They have different appearances and a different color on their beam, but they are equally powerful. They are both mouse-controlled use a massive laser beam as their weapon. Hold the mouse button to bellow a mighty roar and fire the beam, but be sure to release the button to let your power meter recharge as firing the laser quickly drains the meter. Occasionally, you find a power-up that gives you full beam power for a few seconds. There is only one level in this game and it is a short one, but it does end with a big boss fight. The game is not very challenging and has little replay value, but is fun and entertaining.
Storyline[]
While the game's developer claims it’s an introspective take on a personal life experience he once had that he thinks leaves him emotionally vulnerable, while encouraging the player to think about their own feelings and how they’re perceived by the people around them, the story comes off as rather simple. During the end sequence, the dinosaurs celebrate having saved the earth, but there is no explanation as to why the enemies or the end boss are a threat to the earth. The story is not deep enough to be a reason for playing the game, but who can really complain when there are robot dinosaurs. They even shoot beams when they roar!
